The 13th annual Tom Glavine's Spring Training was an overwhelming success, raising more than $450,000 for the Georgia Transplant Foundation (GTF). Held on January 27 in the 755 Club at Turner Field, the event drew a huge crowd of about 1,000 sponsors,

guests, volunteers and athletes. (View event photos here).

"When we started this 13 years ago, I never thought it would turn into a $450,000 event, but I'm proud of the work we've done to get here," said Glavine. "GTF works hard all year to support the organ transplant community, and it's my pleasure to spend this night lending a hand."

The 755 Club was a hive of activity, with game tables, a silent auction, a raffle, and a live auction contributing to the "good times for a good cause."

Atlanta Braves pitcher John Smoltz held court at the poker table with former Brave Mark DeRosa, while Tom Glavine and Kevin Millwood challenged guests on the pool table and Braves outfielder Andruw Jones kept a close watch on his silent auction bids.

Over at the live auction, Glavine helped auctioneer Allan Baitcher raise more than $115,000 for the Georgia Transplant Foundation. Some of the big-ticket items were a Michael Jordan signed jersey that went for $9,500 and a baseball signed by President George W. Bush and Senator John Kerry that sold for $8,000.

The night confirmed Tom Glavine's Spring Training as the premier event in Atlanta for guests to mingle with celebrities and athletes. In addition to those already mentioned, attendees included Atlanta Falcon Alge Crumpler, 790 The Zone radio personality Chris

Dimino, Atlanta Braves catcher Eddie Perez, world air hockey champion Michael Rosen, the Falcons cheerleaders, Atlanta Braves mascot Homer, and many others.

"The response we had this year was amazing," said David Bakelman, Executive Director of the Georgia Transplant Foundation. "I want to thank the community, our volunteers, and sponsors for stepping up to the plate and helping support our goal of providing financial and educational support to organ transplant candidates, recipients and living donors."
