Shannon Leach

I was born on November 19, 1980, with congenital heart defects.  I have had two open-heart surgeries, one when I was six and one when I was sixteen.  Thanks to these surgeries and medicine, I have been fortunate to have led a fairly normal life.  I graduated from Georgia Southern with a degree in Sports Management and have worked with several sports teams including the Jacksonville Suns, the Lakeland Thunderbolts, and the Georgia Force.  After a recent illness, I have now reached a point where nothing more can be done except a heart transplant.  I am very blessed to have a large group of family and friends to help support me through this experience.  I am seeking your support for the expense of my post-transplant care.  The medicine that I will have to take for the rest of my life is very expensive, even with any insurance coverage I hope to obtain when returning to work.  The Georgia Transplant Foundation will match what I raise in the next year up to a maximum of $10,000.  Any size donation will make a difference.  Thank you in advance for your prayers and financial contribution.

FACT: The cost of immunosuppressive medications typically ranges from $20,600 to $32,900 per year and even with insurance, co-pays can be unaffordable.

Fundraising is a matter of life and death for some transplant candidates, and a matter of quality of life for others. Your generous donation will help this client’s endeavors to assume self-responsibility for his or her medical needs by fundraising.
