Atlanta's most famous blues club, Blind Willies, has been a fixture on the national blues scene for over 20 years. Numerous legendary acts have stepped on the Blind Willies stage, and this club is one of the places where the blues took its first real bite out of me.
Similarly, the Blind Willies house band, The Shadows, are icons of Atlanta blues music. Their perfomances and recordings have inspired me for over 15 years, and today I am very proud to consider each of the members of the Shadows not only my mentors, but also my friends.
On Sunday June 28, 2009 my friends the Shadows have decided to put togther a special Blind Wililes All Star show in my honor. The lineup includes the Shadows, the Breeze Kings, Luther Johnson, Francine Reed, Sandra Hall, Sweet Betty, Tommy Brown, Roy Lee Johnson, and Eddie Tigner. Several other surprise guests are expected !!
The event will be a showcase of some of the best performers in Atlanta's blues history. Don't miss it.

One of Atlanta's most well respected blues performers and teachers is Chicago Joe Jones. Joe has taught guitar in the Atlanta area for many years and founded the Chicago Joe Jones Rock 'N Blues Summer Camp.
Along with Carlos, Joe is also a longtime presenter in the Blues In The Schools program sponsored by the Atanta Blues Society. Together Joe and Carlos have visited dozens of schools in the Atlanta metro area and taught the kids about the music and history of the blues - all free of charge to the schools.
Chicago Joe performs every Thursday at Maddy's BBQ in Decatur. On the first Thursday of each month, Joe invites all of his students and their families to come out and have a teen blues jam. It is quite a sight.
The Thursday June 4 show has been dubbed the "Kids For Carlos" night and collections will be made to assist Carlos in his medical expenses.
