Education and Training Assessment
Referrals to educational resources and training are a vital service offered to the JumpStart clients. During the assessment phase, the Career Counselors will determine if the clients need education or training to prepare the clients for job placement- and for a lifetime of career opportunities. The education and training assessment may include the following services:
- Discovering career options.
- Completing skills assessment tools to match the clients interests.
- Identifying transferable skills to allow transition to a new field of work.
- Conducting a Labor Market Survey to investigate education requirements and research salaries.
Short-Term Training Grant
Short-term training such as computer skills, real estate courses, commercial driverse training, income tax preparation, can enhance the transition to employment by making the client more marketable. JumpStart has a grant for short-term, Career Leading training for up to twelve months that includes the following guidelines:
- Must be enrolled into the JumpStart Program.
- Must be a transplant recipient, spouse of recipient, or parent or a transplant child.
- The JumpStart Career Counselors will make the selection on a case by case basis, depending on the client's financial need and educational capabilities.
- A training grant may include dollars for text books as well as the cost of exams, certifications and/or licenses.
